On the Home Page there are now links to the AFC Bournemouth Community Trust website and the AFCB Walking Football facebook page, and some of our players in starring roles when BBC Match of the Day visited AFC Bournemouth walking football.
The BWFC website is new and far from perfect, but we can make it better with everyone's help.
Some technical things that are beyond us amateurs mean that the site will not have all the bells and whistles you may be used to on professional ones.
Our goal is to provide information for our players, and to promote the club and its activities to a wider audience. In that way we hope to attract more players and also build links with other clubs so that we can arrange friendlies and learn about tournaments we can enter.
This will not affect Spond which will continue to be the way we sign up for regular training and events, and pay BWFC match fees. The website 'events' page will only be there to highlight the dates of upcoming friendlies and tournaments we have entered.
Here's some immediate things you can help with:
Thanks in advance.
We are only a week into what is being called 'lockdown 3' and the absence of football is already beginning to make itself felt.
Yes, at our advanced ages many people are taking it easy but putting on the kit and heading for the astro pitches two or three times a week has literally changed a lot of people's lives - and we miss it. We are all fitter, more skilled, and we have built a large group of likeminded friends. It's not just the football we miss, it's the comradeship, the banter. Things that many of us thought we had left behind many years ago.
Bournemouth Walking Football Club is growing quickly and we are now building an online presence so that we can keep existing players updated as well as provide a way for new players to find and join us.
We also hope that it will be a way to connect to other clubs so we can arrange matches.
